Huskies’ Home Winning Streak Ends in Loss to CU


The No. 14 UConn men’s basketball team suffered a 68-63 loss to Creighton, ending a 28-game home winning streak. Hassan Diarra led UConn with 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. The game featured five ties and nine lead changes. UConn star Alex Karaban was held to eight points, while Samson Johnson had seven points and a career-high five assists.

The Huskies started strong but fell behind in the first half, trailing 35-28 at halftime. They battled back in the second half, taking the lead at one point, but Creighton pulled ahead late in the game. UConn shot 44.8% from the floor and 31.6% from 3-point range. Creighton shot 47.9% from the floor and 34.8% from beyond the arc.

Despite the loss, UConn still holds an impressive home record under coach Dan Hurley. The team was without star freshman Liam McNeeley for the fourth consecutive game. UConn will look to bounce back when they face Butler on Tuesday at the XL Center.

The loss to Creighton was only the second home loss for UConn in nearly two years, with the team’s last home defeat dating back to 2023. The Huskies will be eager to return to their winning ways as they continue their season.
