Coco Gauff Sends Message to TikTok USA at Australian Open – NBC Connecticut

American tennis star Coco Gauff expressed her sadness over the removal of the TikTok app in the United States after her victory at the Australian Open. Gauff noted that she has been using the app since it was called Musical.ly and found it to be an escape and a way to relax before matches. She hopes the app will come back but sees it as an opportunity to be more productive.

Despite the ban, Gauff remains hopeful for the return of TikTok, as she believes it has helped small businesses and creators share their stories. She mentioned that many people are migrating to a new app called RedNote, showing the resilience of creators and users in finding new platforms.

President-elect Donald Trump hinted at giving TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, more time to find an approved buyer, leading to the app’s restoration. The law that required ByteDance to sell the platform or face a ban in the U.S. was set to go in effect, leading to TikTok’s removal from app stores operated by Apple and Google.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding TikTok, tennis players like Gauff remain hopeful for its return and acknowledge the impact the app has had on connecting people and sharing stories. Other tennis players, like Aryna Sabalenka, also expressed their love for TikTok and hope for a resolution to the ban.
