Bridgeport-based nonprofit Jane Doe No More partnered with St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, to donate clothing for sexual assault survivors. Nearly two dozen bags of brand-new sweatsuits and undergarments were collected through a clothing donation drive organized by the nonprofit. Survivors who arrive at the hospital for a sexual assault examination often have to surrender their clothing for evidence, and the donations aim to provide them with clean clothing for after the examination.
Tara Flynn, co-organizer of the drive and administrative assistant at St. Vincent’s, highlighted the importance of providing survivors with fresh clothing during such a difficult time. Thanks to the support of local neighbors and a donation from Hanes, hundreds of items were collected to help these survivors. The overwhelming response to the drive shows the community’s dedication to supporting and caring for those who have been affected by sexual assault.
