Number 9 Huskies Head to Washington DC to Take on Georgetown this Saturday


The No. 9 UConn men’s basketball team is gearing up for a matchup with rival Georgetown on Saturday. UConn is coming off a close loss to Villanova, while Georgetown fell to Marquette in their last game. They will be meeting for the 75th time, with UConn currently on an eight-game winning streak against the Hoyas. Alex Karaban leads UConn in scoring and was recently named to the Wooden Award Midseason 25 Watch List.

UConn will be without star freshman Liam McNeeley for the upcoming game. Georgetown, led by coach Ed Cooley, has a strong defense and is off to a 12-3 start this season. Thomas Sorber has been a standout freshman for the team, while Jayden Epps and Malik Mack provide scoring in the backcourt. Micah Peavy contributes across the board for the Hoyas.

After the game against Georgetown, UConn will have a bye before facing Creighton on January 18. The game will be broadcast on FOX at 2 p.m. with Tim Brando and Donny Marshall on the call. UConn will look to extend their winning streak against Georgetown and continue their success in the BIG EAST conference.
