Two major wildfires, the Eaton and Palisades fires, have caused mass destruction in California, with thousands of structures destroyed. These fires have been described as some of the worst in the state’s history. Despite a decrease in winds expected on Saturday, strong winds are predicted for next week, posing a challenge for firefighters.
Tragedy struck when a Canadian Super Scooper plane, trying to combat the fires, was grounded for repairs after being hit by a drone in the Palisades Fire zone. The fires have claimed 11 lives, according to the county medical examiner.
As of Saturday morning, the Palisades Fire had burned about 21,600 acres with 11 percent containment, while the Eaton Fire northeast of Los Angeles had consumed 14,100 acres with 15 percent containment. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from the affected areas in Los Angeles County. Updates on the situation are being closely monitored.
