The 2025 Nike New England Winterfest Volleyball Tournament has kicked off in downtown Hartford, with more than 700 boys’ and girls’ teams from New England and Canada participating. The tournament, now in its 15th year, is the largest yet, according to Dave Peixoto, Commissioner of the New England Regional Volleyball Association. The event is expected to bring close to 30,000 people to Hartford over the next three weeks and generate over $11 million in economic impact for the Greater Hartford area.
Local businesses, including restaurants, are benefiting from the influx of players, coaches, families, and fans. The tournament is providing a much-needed boost to the hospitality community during the slower month of December.
Organizers believe that the tournament not only impacts the state economically but also positively influences the lives of young athletes by fostering teamwork, friendships, and social connections. The event is also helping to showcase local businesses, such as Victus Coffee, and bringing new faces to the Hartford community.
