Displaced tenants from an apartment building in Hartford are facing homelessness on Friday if the city does not extend their temporary housing to allow them to find permanent housing. The tenants were displaced following an electrical fire in August, and despite efforts to find new housing, 11 households still do not have a place to live. The apartment complex, Concord Hills, is undergoing construction with no end in sight due to non-compliance with building codes. The landlord, identified as Greyhill Group, has been labeled a “problem landlord” for failing to address tenant concerns and maintain safe housing conditions. Greyhill Group principals are facing prosecution for failing to make necessary repairs after the fire. The tenants originally had until December 10 to find new housing, but the deadline was extended to January 10. As the deadline approaches, the tenants are pleading for more time to secure permanent housing and avoid homelessness. News 8 reached out to Greyhill Apartment but has not received a response.
