A man in his 40s was fatally shot in Bridgeport on Thursday night. Police responded to a home on Hewitt Street and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Detectives are conducting an investigation and believe the incident started inside the home and spilled out onto the front porch. The victim, a 48-year-old man from Bridgeport, knew the shooter, according to authorities. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. Police have closed off a section of Hewitt Street for the investigation.
