Australian student Hadi Nazari, 23, who disappeared while hiking in Kosciuszko National Park, was found alive after surviving almost two weeks on berries and two muesli bars. He had split from his friends on December 26 and was found by hikers 6 miles from a command post that had been set up for the search. Nazari drank water from a creek and foraged for food in the mountains. After being found, he was assessed by paramedics and reunited with his family who were relieved to see him in good spirits. The search for Nazari involved over 300 rescuers and volunteers, with hope increasing when his belongings were found near a river followed by a campfire, lighter, camera, and camera bag. A hiking group passing by heard Nazari calling for help and discovered him after almost two weeks. Despite losing track of time, Nazari demonstrated good survival instincts during his ordeal. His friend, Joshua Dart, who was not actively searching for him, was among those who found him. The rescue was celebrated as an incredible outcome after a long search effort and brought relief to Nazari’s loved ones.
