The family of a young mother and her four-month-old son, who were shot and killed in Hartford in November, is grappling with the tragedy. The accused killer, Lance Morales, is facing two counts of murder after allegedly opening fire in a drive-by shooting over a dispute about a car. Jose Reyes, the grandfather of the victims, is devastated by the loss and struggling to cope with the grief. He has lost 40 pounds and says he can’t sleep because he sees his granddaughter and grandson when he closes his eyes. Reyes attended a court hearing where Morales was supposed to appear, but the accused killer’s court date was canceled due to a commotion in the courthouse. Morales, who was extradited back to the state from Puerto Rico, is being held on a $5 million bond. The family is still trying to understand why the killings occurred and putting their faith in God for justice. There is no word yet on when Morales’s next court appearance will be.
