Former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz has passed away at the age of 37, the team announced on Tuesday. Known for his time with the Orioles from 2009 to 2016, Matusz was described as a beloved member of the Birdland community, both on and off the field.

Originally from Grand Junction, Colorado, Matusz was drafted by the Orioles in 2008 and went on to make 279 appearances with the team, as well as one with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. He ended his career with an ERA of 4.92 and a record of 27-42, but was best remembered for his success against baseball legend David Ortiz, causing him to struggle at the plate.
