The Las Vegas Raiders have announced the firing of head coach Antonio Pierce after a disappointing season that ended with a 4-13 record. Pierce, who had been elevated to the role midway through the 2023 season, was unable to turn things around for the team in his first full season as head coach. The decision comes after a tumultuous season that saw star receiver Davante Adams traded to the New York Jets.
The team will now begin the search for their 13th head coach of the 21st century, highlighting the lack of stability in the coaching position for the Raiders in recent years. The firing of Pierce marks the fifth head coach change since 2020, with no coach lasting more than two full seasons since Jon Gruden.
Despite the disappointing outcome of the 2024 season, the team expressed gratitude for Pierce’s leadership and his efforts to reignite the Raider spirit within the organization. General Manager Tom Telesco will be retained as the team looks to move forward and make changes for the upcoming season.
The Raiders finished the season with a loss against the Los Angeles Chargers, securing them the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With a history of coaching changes and a need for improvement, the Raiders will need to find a new leader who can guide the team to success in the future.
