Elderly Driver Dies in Head-On Collision on Route 17 in Durham – NBC Connecticut

An 86-year-old man, John Festa, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Durham on Monday afternoon. Festa, from Northford, was driving south on Route 17 when his pickup collided head-on with another car near the intersection of Corn Club Road. A third vehicle was also involved in the crash. Festa was taken to the hospital where he later died, while a passenger in his truck was also hospitalized for injuries. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as well. Fortunately, the third driver was not injured in the accident. Route 17 was closed for several hours while state police investigated the crash, but it reopened later that evening. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving and being cautious on the roads to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.
