Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett announced that the sports programs at Hamden Middle School will continue next school year thanks to a donation from Quinnipiac University. The middle school sports programs were at risk due to a $3.1 million budget shortfall, but the university’s donation will ensure their continuation.
Mayor Garrett expressed her appreciation for the university’s contribution, emphasizing the importance of athletics for Hamden families. She also mentioned her excitement to cheer for the young Hamden Dragons, as her child will be attending the middle school in the fall.
Quinnipiac University’s President, Judy D. Olian, highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting the well-being of the entire Hamden community. Olian expressed gratitude for the opportunity to invest in the future success and healthy development of the town’s youth by supporting middle school sports.
In addition to funding middle school sports, Quinnipiac has pledged its support for other town activities.
