NBC Connecticut announces activation of severe cold weather protocol Monday evening

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has activated the severe cold weather protocol in response to dropping temperatures. From Monday evening through Thursday noon, temperatures are expected to remain in the 20s, with even colder wind chill values. The governor urges anyone in need of shelter to call 211 or visit 211ct.org to find a list of locations. Transportation can be provided if necessary.

Gov. Lamont emphasized the importance of staying indoors during extreme cold, warning that prolonged exposure can be fatal. He highlighted the availability of shelters and warming centers across the state, urging those in need to seek shelter. The severe cold weather protocol will ensure that state agencies and municipalities work with United Way 211 and Connecticut shelters to provide shelter and transportation to those in need.

As the cold weather sweeps through Connecticut, residents are encouraged to stay warm and safe by utilizing available resources to protect themselves against the harsh outdoor conditions.
