Halliburton Energy introduces revolutionary “push button” hydraulic fracturing technology for Coterra operations

Coterra Energy Inc. and Halliburton Energy Services have announced a landmark partnership to launch autonomous hydraulic fracturing technology in North America. This collaboration marks the first use of the Octiv® Auto Frac service, part of Halliburton’s ZEUS platform, which automates stage delivery execution with the push of a button. Coterra is the first operator to fully automate and control their hydraulic fracturing design and execution.

The Octiv Auto Frac service enhances Halliburton’s Zeus intelligent fracturing platform and Sensori™ fracture monitoring service, allowing for automated fracture decisions and execution. The initial rollout of this service led to a significant 17% increase in stage efficiency, prompting Coterra to deploy the technology in its remaining completion programs in the Permian Basin.

Shawn Stasiuk, Vice President of Production Enhancement at Halliburton, praised the Octiv Auto Frac service for revolutionizing completion performance and providing customers with the control they demand over their assets. Coterra CEO Tom Jorden highlighted the company’s commitment to maximizing efficiencies and leveraging advanced technologies to improve operations.

The Octiv Auto Frac service delivers consistent fracture execution and increased autonomy and control over the completion process, aligning with Coterra’s strategic approach to operational performance. This cutting-edge technology integrated into the ZEUS platform offers operators a powerful solution to maximize consistency, efficiency, and asset value.
