‘Golden Globes awards top honors to ‘The Brutalist’ and ‘Emilia Perez’

Brady Corbet’s epic postwar film “The Brutalist” was recognized as the best drama film at the 82nd Golden Globes, taking home awards for best director and best actor as well. The film’s ambitious vision and stunning visuals were lauded by the audience and critics alike. French director Jacques Audiard also had a big night, with his musical “Emilia Pérez” winning best film in the comedy or musical category, as well as several other awards.

Acting surprises included Julianne Moore winning best actress in a comedy or musical for her role in “The Substance,” and Fernanda Torres winning best actress in a drama film for her performance in “I’m Still Here.” Sebastian Stan took home the award for best supporting actor for his role in “A Different Man.”

Host Nikki Glaser’s monologue was sharp and well-received, promising a more successful show compared to previous years. The Globes saw a boost in ratings and praise after last year’s controversies and the overhaul of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The evening also featured wins for “Wicked,” “Conclave,” and “Flow,” among others.
