Patch PM CT delivers breaking news stories from all over Connecticut every weeknight. One of the top stories this week was the tragic death of a former athlete who was among more than a dozen people killed when a man drove his pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street on New Year’s Eve. In another incident, a teen driver of a stolen car was critically injured after crashing into a utility pole. A 64-year-old man armed with a box cutter repeatedly stabbed another person, according to police reports. Looking ahead to 2025, Connecticut residents can kickstart the new year with an “Interstellar Rail Jam” or a “Silent Disco” instead of fireworks. In other news, up to 120 meteors an hour may be visible during the peak of a meteor shower, and Greenwich Hospital welcomed its first baby of the year on January 1st. Additionally, an annual music and media festival is scheduled for April. The Patch community platform covers news and events from communities throughout Connecticut.
