Former Connecticut Senator, Chris Dodd, was honored by President Joe Biden with the prestigious Presidential Citizens Medal this year. As the longest-serving U.S. Senator in Connecticut history, Dodd received this second-highest civilian award for his years of public service.
Dodd is one of 20 individuals to be recognized, including advocates for marriage equality such as Mississippi Congresswoman Bennie Thompson and former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney. At 80 years old, Dodd spent 30 years in the Senate, having been elected in 1980 and re-elected four times. He also ran for president in 2008.
During the award ceremony, Senator Blumenthal commended Dodd for his dedication to public service and for his efforts to expand Social Security benefits.
