Olympic French swimmer Yohann Ndoye-Brouard recently raised concerns about the quality of the bronze medal he won in the 4×100-meter medley relay at the Paris 2024 Games, noting that it is deteriorating quickly. Ndoye-Brouard jokingly questioned if his medal was from 2024 or 1924 due to its appearance. His teammate Clement Secchi also noticed that his medal was losing its luster. This issue was first highlighted by U.S. rugby player Ilona Maher, who mentioned on a talk show that her bronze medal was wearing out. The medals awarded at the Paris 2024 Games contain a small piece of iron from the Eiffel Tower, a tradition that dates back to previous Olympics held in Paris. The International Olympic Committee and Paris 2024 organizers have not yet commented on the matter. Despite the deterioration of the medals, athletes like Ndoye-Brouard and Maher still value them as symbols of their achievements.
