UConn’s director of athletics David Benedict has announced a two-year contract extension for head football coach Jim Mora, extending his contract through December 31, 2028. The contract is valued at $10.01 million and includes performance-based incentives. Mora, who has led the team to two post-season bowl games and an impressive 8-4 record this season, expressed gratitude for the university’s commitment to the program’s success.
The Huskies are set to play in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl game, aiming for their ninth win of the season against North Carolina. Under Mora’s leadership, the team has shown significant progress, posting the most wins since 2010 and securing the first winning season since then. The offense has been impressive, scoring the most points since 2009 and performing well in rushing yards. The defense has also improved, allowing the fewest points since 2015.
Mora’s efforts have earned him The Gridiron Club of Greater Boston 2024 Head Coach of the Year award, marking his fifth winning campaign during his collegiate coaching career. This season also marks the sixth post-season bowl appearance for a Mora-coached team. Overall, UConn football has shown great progress under Mora’s guidance, and the future looks promising for the program as they continue to build momentum and success on the field.
