UConn coach Jim Mora has signed a two-year contract extension through 2028, the school announced on the day of the Huskies’ Fenway Bowl game against North Carolina. Mora’s extension comes after leading the team to their first winning season since 2010, with an 8-4 record. He will earn $10.01 million plus incentives over the next four years.
Mora has guided the Huskies to their second bowl game in three seasons, showing significant progress since his arrival. He expressed optimism about the program’s future and acknowledged that there is still work to be done. UConn had previously struggled against major football programs but Mora believes they are ready to take the next step and start winning those games as well.
Athletic director David Benedict praised Mora for his leadership and the positive impact he has had on the team. He highlighted Mora’s success in taking UConn to post-season bowl games and achieving one of the best seasons in the program’s history. Benedict expressed confidence in Mora’s ability to continue moving the football program forward in the years to come.
With the contract extension in place, Mora will have the opportunity to further build on the success he has already achieved and work towards establishing UConn as a competitive force in college football. The Huskies look to continue their momentum and strive for even greater accomplishments under Mora’s leadership.
