Three men were arrested in New Haven after a handgun was seen.


Three men were arrested in New Haven after police responded to a report of a man brandishing a pistol. The incident occurred at the intersection of Chapel Street and Kensington Street, where a man in a red Infiniti was seen with a handgun. Police were able to locate the vehicle and detain several men in a fleeing crowd. One of the men, 25-year-old Robert Franklin from New Haven, attempted to run but was caught by police. A handgun was found in Franklin’s fanny pack. Two other men, Atreyu Leggett, 24, and Tyrses Brown, 31, both from New Haven, were also arrested due to outstanding warrants. Franklin, a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, was charged with multiple offenses including Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, and Interfering with an Officer. Leggett had a warrant for violating probation, and Brown had a warrant for Harassment in the 2nd Degree. The men are facing various charges related to the incident.
