The UConn Huskies will be playing in the third annual Wasabi Fenway Bowl on December 28, facing off against the North Carolina Tar Heels at Fenway Park in Boston. This will be the second time the Huskies have played at Fenway Park, the first being in 2017 against Boston College. Under head coach Jim Mora, the Huskies have enjoyed a successful season, finishing 8-4 and securing their first winning season since 2010.
The Tar Heels finished the regular season 6-6 and are led by star running back Omarion Hampton, who was a two-time Doak Walker Award finalist. Both teams will participate in special events, including media day on December 27, leading up to the bowl game. Tickets can be purchased on UConn’s website, with an option to donate tickets to local charities in the Boston area.
This matchup will mark the fourth meeting between UConn and North Carolina, with the Tar Heels winning all three previous meetings. The Huskies have a record of 3-4 in previous bowl appearances, while Mora will be coaching in his sixth postseason bowl game. The game is set to kick off at 11:00 am and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and simulcast on ESPN+. For more information, visit UConnBowl.com.
