Central Connecticut State University secured a 21-17 victory against Stonehill College in NEC football action. Sophomore running back Donny Marcus scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, responding to a rally from Stonehill in the third quarter. Central Connecticut’s quarterback Brady Olson completed 10 passes for 110 yards, while Marcus contributed with 88 all-purpose yards. The Blue Devils’ defense was led by junior linebacker Jack Stoll with ten tackles. Stonehill’s offense, led by junior Jack O’Connell, scored two touchdowns in the third quarter. Sophomore Charles Battaglia was a standout on the Stonehill defense with 13 tackles and a forced fumble.
The game saw Central Connecticut use lengthy scoring drives in the first half to take an early lead, while Stonehill fought back in the third quarter to briefly take the lead. However, Central Connecticut regained the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for the win. The victory keeps Central Connecticut in contention for the Northeast Conference Championship.
Stonehill honored its 17 seniors before the game, and notable performances included Battaglia’s career-high tackle count and Miller’s touchdown catch. The road team has won all three meetings between these two programs, with Central Connecticut claiming victory in their last two visits to Stonehill.
