In a dominant performance, the No. 4 UConn women’s basketball team secured a 101-68 victory over Iowa State at the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase. Setting a program record with 20 made three-pointers, three players scored in double figures for UConn. Freshman Sarah Strong led the way with 29 points, earning the game’s MVP honors. Ashlynn Shade and Paige Bueckers also had standout performances, with Shade scoring 27 points and Bueckers notching 27 points, marking her third straight 20-point game.
The trio of Strong, Shade, and Bueckers combined for 83 points on impressive shooting percentages, including a 65.4% clip from beyond the arc. Led by Shade’s hot shooting, UConn built a 36-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring Iowa State 47-33 in the second half.
The Huskies will look to continue their winning ways as they face off against No. 7 USC in a sold-out game at the XL Center on Saturday. Fans attending the game are encouraged to participate in a White Out and wear white attire. With their recent stellar performance, UConn aims to maintain their strong momentum and notch another victory against a tough opponent in USC.
