Russian authorities apprehend suspect in assassination of general accused of sanctioning chemical weapons deployment.

A man has been arrested in connection with the assassination of Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, the head of Russia’s chemical, radiological, and biological weapons unit. The suspect, who was recruited by Ukrainian special services, placed a homemade explosive device on an electric scooter outside Kirillov’s residence. He rented a car and installed a video camera to broadcast the attack online. The suspect, who is in his twenties and from Uzbekistan, was promised $100,000 and European residence as payment for the assassination.
