Former Vice President of Dominion Energy’s Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Michael J. O’Connor, has been appointed as the new executive director of the Connecticut Port Authority. The announcement was made during a board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024. O’Connor brings over three decades of leadership experience from Dominion Energy and will start his new role in January. The Port Authority expressed confidence in O’Connor’s ability to lead the organization, emphasizing his management experience and knowledge of public finance.
One of O’Connor’s initial tasks will be to hire a Maritime Development Manager following the resignation of Eric Dussault. Dussault cited his passion for the private sector and the passenger vessel industry as his reason for leaving. O’Connor’s appointment comes at a critical time for the agency, which is facing challenges related to its State Pier project in New London. O’Connor is the fourth executive director in the eight-year history of the Connecticut Port Authority.
