The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team is gearing up for a challenging week with games against top players Audi Crooks of Iowa State and JuJu Watkins of USC. UConn coach Geno Auriemma noted that each team presents different challenges, with Crooks averaging 21.6 points and 8.1 rebounds this season. The Huskies are focused on making things difficult for Crooks by working as a team defensively.
Looking ahead to their game against USC on Saturday, the Huskies will face Watkins, who is third in the country in scoring. The Trojans, ranked seventh nationally, have added talented transfers to their lineup this season. Meanwhile, the Cal Bears have entered the rankings for the first time since 2019, with a 12-1 record and a recent victory over rival Stanford.
As the NCAA releases its weekly NET rankings, South Carolina remains the top choice, with Texas and Kansas State following closely behind. UCLA, the top-ranked team in the AP poll, is fifth in the NET rankings. Vanderbilt, just outside the Top 25, is ranked ninth. Jim Fuller contributed to this report.
