A New York couple has filed a lawsuit against several Connecticut fertility clinics and a doctor over three embryos that were destroyed by mistake. Nicole Couture-Gallagher and Dan Gallagher visited an Illume Fertility Clinic in 2010 and froze 11 embryos, using eight to have triplets and another child naturally. They were later informed that the remaining three embryos had been accidentally destroyed in 2019. The couple claims that the doctor dismissed their heartbreak and made false statements about their intentions for the embryos, leaving them concerned about the fate of their genetic material. The lawsuit, which does not specify a monetary amount, aims to protect other couples struggling with infertility. The couple is worried about the possibility that their embryos could have been used improperly with another family. News 8 has reached out to Illume Fertility for comment but has not received a response.
