Harris receives 7 electoral votes from CT as Trump’s victory is verified

Connecticut followed ancient traditions in the recent ceremony for calculating their presidential vote in 2024. The event included unique elements such as prayer, Waterman pens, engraved ballots, and a saxophone. The process didn’t involve any math due to the constitutionally prescribed method of electing a president through the Electoral College.

Each state conducted similar ceremonies formalizing Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris. The votes cast will be sent to Congress for final counting on January 6, reminiscent of the events of 2021 when Vice President Mike Pence certified Joe Biden as the winner amid uproar.

Trump won the popular vote in 2024, but the Electoral College vote favored him with 312 votes to Harris’ 226. The Electoral College system awards votes based on the state’s representation in Congress, resulting in Connecticut having seven votes allotted according to a winner-take-all system. The close race was decided by Harris losing significant electoral votes in three states by narrow margins.

Connecticut’s seven electors confirmed Harris as the winner during a ceremonial process. Each elector signed engraved ballots and deposited them in a specially carved wooden box, resulting in a swift conclusion to the event. The ceremony was intended to showcase democracy’s principles and civics essential for the nation’s future.
