Jason Kelce will not face charges in incident where he appeared to break someone’s phone

Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce will not face charges for an altercation that occurred outside Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium last month. The incident occurred during a football game when a fan used a homophobic slur against Kelce’s brother Travis. In response, Kelce was seen smashing the man’s cellphone, picking it up, and walking away. The man later asked for his phone back, and Kelce repeated the slur back to him. No charges will be brought as the individual in the video has not been identified, and no complaints were made to University Police about property damage. Kelce apologized for his actions on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” admitting he responded to hate with hate and acknowledging it was not productive. Since retiring last season, Kelce has worked as a commentator for ESPN and was at the game with the network’s “College GameDay.” ESPN has not commented on the incident. Penn State’s police and public safety department have closed the case, and Kelce will not face any legal consequences.
