Jurors in New Mexico awarded a man over $412 million in a medical malpractice case involving a men’s health clinic, the largest amount ever awarded by a jury in a medical malpractice case in the U.S. The man sought treatment for fatigue and weight loss at NuMale Medical Center in 2017, where he was misdiagnosed and given invasive erectile dysfunction shots that caused irreversible damage. The clinic’s alleged fraudulent scheme involved convincing patients they needed injections three times a week to avoid irreversible damage. The plaintiff’s attorneys argued that licensed professionals shouldn’t defraud patients for money and breached their fiduciary duty. NuMale Medical Center’s president stated that the focus is on delivering responsible patient care and maintaining safety and compliance standards at all its facilities. The jury found that the defendants’ fraudulent and negligent conduct resulted in damages to the plaintiff and violated the Unfair Practices Act. NuMale Medical Center operates in several states, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. While respecting the judicial process, the company cannot comment on specific details of the case due to ongoing legal proceedings.
