In a thrilling final at the Baha Mar Women’s Championship, No. 2 UConn emerged victorious with a 73-60 win over No. 18 Mississippi. Paige Bueckers led the charge with 29 points, while Azzi Fudd added 18 to secure the victory for the Huskies.
Despite a strong start by UConn, the Rebels made a comeback in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to just three points. However, Fudd’s impressive plays, including a crucial 3-pointer and a jumper, helped UConn regain control and secure the win.
KK Deans led the Rebels with 17 points, while Kennedy Todd-Williams, Starr Jacobs, and Madison Scott also contributed points to the team’s effort.
UConn’s strong shooting performance, especially in the second half, proved to be a decisive factor in the game. The Huskies shot 51.6% in the first half and an impressive 68% in the second half, while Ole Miss struggled with their shooting accuracy throughout the game.
Despite the loss, Ole Miss can take encouragement from their third-quarter rally to make it a competitive game after a challenging first half.
Looking ahead, UConn will face Holy Cross next, while Ole Miss will take on Alabama State in their upcoming games. Overall, the exciting final at the Baha Mar Women’s Championship showcased some impressive performances from both teams.
