Multiple Trump Appointments Targeted with Threats, NBC Connecticut Reports

Several of President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in bomb threats and swatting attacks, according to a spokesperson for the Trump transition team. Swatting involves hoax calls to police claiming life-threatening situations. The FBI is working with law enforcement partners to investigate the incidents, which were determined not to be credible threats. Representative Elise Stefanik and former Representative Matt Gaetz were among those targeted. Despite the threats, the transition team stated that they will not be deterred by acts of intimidation and violence. This is not the first time such tactics have been used against individuals associated with Trump. The FBI is urging the public to report anything suspicious to law enforcement. President Trump and the Transition team are grateful for the swift response from law enforcement to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. Although the threats were not credible, law enforcement acted quickly to secure the safety of those involved.
