UConn Men’s Basketball suffers heartbreaking defeat against Colorado in Maui Invitational
The No. 2 UConn men’s basketball team (4-2) faced a tough loss against Colorado in the Maui Invitational, with the Huskies falling 73-72 in the final seconds. Liam McNeeley led the team with a career-high 20 points, and Solo Ball added 16. Although Connecticut took an eight-point lead at halftime, Colorado’s strong second-half shooting got them back in the game. The Buffaloes took the lead in the closing seconds, with Andrej Jakimovski’s shot securing the win.
Hassan Diarra had 11 points and six assists in his first start of the season, while Julian Hammond III and Elijah Malone each scored 16 for Colorado. Despite the loss, UConn has seen strong performances from players like McNeeley, who has scored in double figures in all six games of his freshman season.
The Huskies will play their final game in Maui against either Dayton or Iowa State. This defeat marks the team’s first back-to-back losses since January 2023, but they remain a competitive force with multiple players hitting 20 points in a game this season. UConn will look to bounce back and finish their run in Maui on a high note.
