The Holiday Express is making its annual return to Portland, giving families and holiday enthusiasts a festive ride through the city. This popular event, organized by the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation, offers a unique experience for passengers to travel on vintage trains and take in the sights and sounds of the holiday season.
The Holiday Express features two types of trains: the Candy Cane Express and the Polar Express. The Candy Cane Express is a one-hour ride that takes passengers on a scenic journey along the Willamette River, with views of the city and the waterfront. The Polar Express, on the other hand, is a two-hour ride that includes a visit from Santa Claus himself, as well as hot chocolate and cookies for all passengers to enjoy.
This year, the Holiday Express is especially important as it marks the return of in-person events after being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers have implemented safety measures to ensure the well-being of passengers, including requiring masks for all guests and staff, limiting capacity on the trains, and enforcing social distancing guidelines.
Tickets for the Holiday Express are already selling out fast, so those interested in taking part in this holiday tradition are encouraged to book their tickets early. The trains will be running on select dates from November 27th through December 22nd, offering multiple opportunities for families and friends to enjoy a magical holiday experience together.
Don’t miss out on this festive and family-friendly event in Portland. All aboard the Holiday Express for a memorable holiday adventure!
