CVS Health has announced that there will be further layoffs in Connecticut next year. This news comes after 416 employees were already notified of their termination, with 93 of them working at the Hartford facility on Farmington Ave. The layoffs were expected to begin in December and continue through the month.
CVS Health acquired Hartford-based Aetna in 2018, creating one of the largest healthcare conglomerates globally. The company had previously committed to keeping Aetna’s headquarters in Connecticut for at least the next 10 years.
A second phase of layoffs is now planned for January, affecting a total of 42 employees, 12 of whom are at the Hartford facility. The Connecticut Department of Labor has reached out to CVS to provide services to the impacted workers as early as possible.
The news of additional layoffs has raised concerns among employees and the local community. CVS Health’s presence in Connecticut is facing uncertainty with the impending job cuts.
