Stratford Public Schools Superintendent Uyi Osunde, who was placed on leave after being arrested on breach of peace charges last year, has now resigned. The Board of Education made the decision to place Osunde on leave following a 4-3 vote in December 2023. Osunde was present at the meeting when the board decided his fate. Heather Borges, the former director of pupil services, will continue to serve as acting superintendent in the wake of Osunde’s resignation. The decision to appoint Borges as interim superintendent was based on her years of dedication and service to the district. Osunde’s resignation marks the end of a controversial chapter in the district’s leadership. The Stratford Public Schools will now be moving forward under new leadership as they navigate the aftermath of Osunde’s departure.
