UConn Men’s Hockey Team Secures Ranked Win Against UMass Lowell
The UConn men’s hockey team notched a 4-1 victory over the no. 15 ranked UMass Lowell River Hawks, with standout freshman Callum Tung making 26 saves in his first career start. The game started as a defensive battle, with both teams remaining scoreless after the first period. In the second period, UConn took control of the game, scoring two goals while keeping UMass Lowell off the scoreboard.
Tristan Fraser, Kai Janviriya, and Ryan Tattle combined for UConn’s first goal, while Joey Muldowney added another on the power play. Hudson Schandor and Jake Percival also scored for UConn in the third period to secure the victory. Despite UMass Lowell managing to score one goal in the third period, UConn held on for the win.
Freshman Callum Tung’s impressive 26-save performance was instrumental in securing the victory for UConn. Looking ahead, UConn will face UMass Lowell again in the second game of the series, set to take place tomorrow at 6pm. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, offering fans the opportunity to see the Huskies in action once again.
