Firefighting crews from around the country are assisting in battling the Berlin fire


Fire crews in Berlin, Connecticut are battling the Hawthorne Fire, which is currently not growing but poses a potential threat with warm weather and strong winds expected. Despite this, the chief and command staff are ensuring that the crews are physically and mentally well as they continue their efforts on Lamenation Mountain.

Berlin Fire Chief Jonn Massirio commended the volunteers for their dedication, working tirelessly since the fire began. With the help of additional resources from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), including volunteers from Quebec, the crews are determined to contain the fire.

DEEP representative Tom Trask acknowledged the unprecedented nature of this fire season in Connecticut, with support coming from various locations to assist the local fire department. Despite the challenging conditions, the spirits of the crews remain high as they work towards extinguishing the fire.
