Early voting for the presidential election continues as over 360,000 voters have already participated. The early voting period, which started on Oct. 21, will continue until Nov. 3. According to the Secretary of the State’s Office, as of Oct. 28, 367,190 voters have already cast their votes early, and 78,689 absentee ballots have been returned. In addition, a total of 131,235 absentee ballots have been issued as of the same date.
Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 7, there were 158,381 new voter registrations. The breakdown of early voting numbers by day also shows a steady participation rate with a peak on Oct. 28 where 56,911 voters took part.
Several towns have shown significant early voting turnout, with West Hartford leading with 9,419 ballots cast followed by Fairfield, Norwalk, Stamford, and Milford among others. The remaining days for early voting are Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, with varying hours depending on the day.
As the election day approaches on Nov. 5, voters are reminded that polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Photo identification is not required to vote, but voters must present ID with their name, address, signature, or photograph. Absentee voting deadlines are also provided, with options for in-person drop-off or mailing before 8 p.m. on Election Day. Voters are encouraged to take advantage of early voting opportunities and ensure their voices are heard in this crucial election.
