The Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, along with mutual aid from neighboring towns, is currently working to contain a brush fire on Ayers Mountain in Franklin, Connecticut. The fire, which has doubled in size since earlier this morning, is proving challenging to reach as firefighters must travel on foot to access the flames due to the mountainous terrain.
To assist in extinguishing the fire, a helicopter is being utilized to drop buckets of water on the flames. The Town of Franklin’s Emergency Management Director is coordinating the efforts to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
At this time, there are no reported injuries or property damage. News 8 is actively seeking more information and will provide updates as they become available.
