The Archive Apartments, a new development in Downtown New Haven, has officially been completed with over 100 apartment units now available in the area. The project, which took five years to complete, was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting event attended by Mayor Justin Elicker, community partners, and project developers. The apartments provide a total of 166 market-value units in two separate buildings located at 848 Chapel St. and 108 Orange St.
Mayor Elicker highlighted the importance of increasing housing options in the city and state, stating that the new units will help alleviate some of the pressure on the housing market. The construction of the Archive Apartments temporarily changed the traffic flow on Chapel Street to one-way, but local business owners like Alexis Evans, owner of Raw Juicescape, are optimistic about the project’s potential to revitalize the area.
Michael Piscitelli, New Haven’s Economic Development Administrator, emphasized the architectural significance of the new development, noting that it reflects the initial vision shared with the community. The completion of the Archive Apartments marks a significant milestone for the city, providing much-needed housing options and contributing to the ongoing revitalization efforts in Downtown New Haven.
