A 60-year-old man named Jeffrey Michael Kelly has been arrested by police in Tempe, Arizona, for suspicion of shooting at a Democratic National Committee (DNC) office over the past two months and hanging bags of white powder from political signs in a nearby village. Kelly has been charged with felonies including unlawful discharge of a firearm, shooting at a non-residential structure, committing an act of terrorism, and criminal damage. Police in Tempe alleged that Kelly posted political signs with bags of white powder and razor blades in the village of Ahwatukee. The DNC office targeted by Kelly houses staff from Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, the state Democratic Party, and House and Senate candidates’ campaigns.
The incidents occurred in the critical battleground state of Arizona, where both Harris and former President Donald Trump are campaigning. Police responded to reports of gunshots through the DNC office’s windows, and the suspect allegedly targeted the same office in three separate incidents. The DNC has not yet commented on the situation. Tempe police, located just outside Phoenix, plan to provide more information on the suspect at a press conference. Kelly faces serious charges related to his alleged actions against the Democratic Party office and will have to face the consequences of his actions in court.
