Officers injured during arrest of juveniles following large-scale fight at Branford Dunkin Donuts

A planned brawl among roughly 70 students at a Dunkin in Branford, Connecticut turned violent on Monday afternoon. Police officers were dispatched to the scene due to reports of fights both inside and outside the store, mainly involving high school-aged females. As officers attempted to disperse the crowd, several juveniles began to challenge and fight the officers, leading to a physical altercation. Nine people, mostly juveniles, were arrested, and several officers were injured during the incident.

One juvenile was so resistant that an officer was pushed into a window, causing it to break and glass to fly everywhere. Despite attempting to deploy a taser, the juvenile continued to resist arrest. Eventually, eight minors were issued Juvenile Summons and released to their parents or guardians, while one 18-year-old from Branford was also arrested and charged. Additional videos of the incident are still being reviewed, and more arrests are pending as the investigation continues.

According to the police, there are no longer any threats to the public as it was deemed an isolated incident. The injuries sustained by the officers during the brawl have not been disclosed at this time. The investigation into the incident remains active as authorities work to gather additional information.
