Harris believes America is prepared for a woman of color to become president – NBC Connecticut

Vice President Kamala Harris is confident that sexism will not affect the upcoming election, stating that the country is ready for a woman of color in the White House. In an interview with NBC News, Harris emphasized the importance of addressing issues that matter to voters, regardless of gender.

Harris, who would make history as the first female president and second nonwhite president, is focusing on substance and earning votes rather than dwelling on her historic candidacy. With the election just two weeks away, polls show a tight race between Harris and former President Donald Trump.

Regarding abortion rights, Harris reaffirmed her commitment to protecting these rights as nonnegotiable. She expressed concern about potential restrictions on reproductive healthcare and rejected the idea of compromising on fundamental freedoms.

Campaigning with Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney, who is pro-life, Harris emphasized the need to protect women’s access to healthcare services. Despite the bipartisan support, Harris maintained her stance on prioritizing abortion rights.

When asked about the possibility of pardoning Trump, should she win the presidency, Harris declined to engage in hypotheticals. She emphasized the importance of moving forward as a nation and focusing on the work needed to address the challenges facing the country.
