Brush fires detected in various locations throughout Connecticut during red flag warning period – NBC Connecticut

Towns in Connecticut are facing an increased risk of brush fires due to a red flag warning in effect on Wednesday. This warning, which is in place until 7 p.m., is a result of wind gusts and dry weather conditions.

One of the major brush fires that crews are currently working to contain is on Lamentation Mountain, along the Berlin-Meriden town line. This fire started on Monday evening and has already spread across nearly 90 acres. Additionally, a second brush fire broke out on the south side of Berlin on Wednesday evening, with crews actively working to extinguish it.

In Burlington, a smaller brush fire was reported in the area of Cobblestone and Stone roads, estimated to have burned an area measuring 80 by 100 feet. Residents are being advised to avoid the area to ensure their safety.

The recent dry weather and gusty winds have contributed to the heightened fire danger across the state, leading to multiple incidents of brush fires. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and follow safety measures during this red flag warning.
