Keysha Evans was named the new paraeducator of the year in Connecticut, receiving recognition for her dedication and hard work at Tashua Elementary School in Trumbull. Evans, who now works at Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton, was commended for going above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering virtual learning support through Grace Learning Academy to students in need. She emphasized the importance of providing one-on-one help to students who require additional support, drawing from her own experience of needing assistance in school.
Trumbull Public Schools Superintendent Martin Semmel described Evans as a “shining example” of a dedicated paraeducator, highlighting her impact on the lives of students. Despite working in a different district, Evans remains involved in the Tashua Elementary School community and expressed her pride in seeing her former students grow and succeed.
