The MLB season ends with one lucky team winning the Commissioner’s Trophy after a grueling regular season and postseason. The New York Yankees lead with 27 World Series titles, followed by the St. Louis Cardinals with 11. Other teams with multiple titles include the Oakland A’s, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and Atlanta Braves. The Yankees also hold the record for the most consecutive titles at five in a row from 1949 to 1953.
However, five MLB teams are still chasing their first championship: the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, and Seattle Mariners. The Texas Rangers were also on this list until they won their first title in 2023. The Seattle Mariners are the only team that has never reached the Fall Classic.
Only 14 teams in history have won multiple World Series in a row, with the Yankees achieving this most recently with three straight titles from 1998 to 2000. With the current World Series ongoing between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, baseball fans are eagerly waiting to see who will lift the Commissioner’s Trophy this year.
